Debut Album Release The Beast, Silence Fiction Duke Coffeehouse, 8pm
On October 16th, visionary hip-hop quartet The Beast will release Silence Fiction, their self-produced debut album. To celebrate the release of the album, The Beast is headlining a performance at Duke Coffeehouse in Durham. Durham Arts Council is a co-sponsor of the release party along with Vert & Vogue and Robust Records. A portion of proceeds from the album release event will be donated to support the DAC Emerging Artists Program.
Capturing the group's first two years of risk-taking and progressive songwriting, the album presents a fully-fledged introduction to one of the most innovative bands to emerge from North Carolina. The Beast lead vocalist, Pierce Freelon, along with his mother, Nnenna Freelon, 6-time Grammy nominee and former DAC Emerging Artist, assisted DAC in spring 2009 by performing in a special DAC benefit event. View Here
"DAC is thrilled to see the musical legacy of the Freelons continuing to grow and evolve," said DAC Executive Director, Sherry DeVries.
For more information please contact Pierce Freelon: (919) 697-7728. info@thebeastmusic.com or www.thebeastmusic.com
