No Online Registration
For a variety of reasons, including lack of a
secure server, we do not offer online registration for DAC School classes at this time. We do invite
you to use this section of the DAC Web Site to download the catalog of classes offered this term. You may
register by mail or by fax now, or by phone or in person.
Mail or Fax Registration
Course mail-in registration begins as soon
as you receive this catalog. Mail or fax your registration form with your Mastercard or Visa information or your check payable to Durham Arts Council (if mailing)
to: Registrar, Durham Arts Council, Inc., 120 Morris St., Durham, NC 27701-3242. Our Fax number is 560-2725.
Walk-in and Phone-in Registration
You may register in person or by phone, between 9:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday in the Education Office,
located on the main floor in the Durham Arts Council building.
Register Early!
Many courses fill quickly so we urge you to
register early. Enrollment is guaranteed only by payment of your course fee and space
availability. If minimum enrollment figures are not reached for a particular course before
it begins, it will be canceled. Please register well ahead of time so we can plan
accordingly.
Course Schedules
Course lengths and class meeting times vary. See
individual course descriptions, which include any dates the course will not meet.
Confirmations
We do not send confirmations for these courses.
Unless notified by the Education Office, students who have registered should assume that
their course will meet as scheduled.

Payment Options
The DAC School offers several special options for
tuition payment. Call 560-2726 for further information about any of the options described below.
Installment plans:
Automatic installments of two equal payments are available as noted on the registration form. No installments
are available for one-day workshops or courses costing less than $75. You are required to pay the full course
fee regardless of your attendance.
Senior discounts:
Students age 65 and older are eligible for a 20% discount on tuition.
Children's scholarships:
Partial scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, student interest and
available funds. Applicants must complete and return a scholarship request and
registration form at least one week prior to the first class. Candidates will be notified
by phone. Read more about our scholarship programs.
Work Study opportunities for adults:
DAC School offers some work study opportunities for adult students Contact the office for further information.
Cancellation, Withdrawal and Refund
Policy
Enrollment is limited in our courses and
workshops, so once you have enrolled, your participation is important to us - we are
counting on you to attend. If you must withdraw from a course, we provide these options:
If DAC cancels a course...
You will receive a full refund. Please allow 3-4
weeks for processing.
If you need to withdraw from a course...
You must notify DAC School's DAC Assistant School Manager and Registrar at least
one week before the first class, in writing. You'll receive a refund less a $10 service
charge per course. Please allow 3-4 weeks for processing.
If you have an emergency...
If an emergency prevents you from continuing your
course, DAC may extend credit toward a future course, at the Registrar's discretion. Any
credit you receive from DAC will be valid for one year from the date you notify us. DAC will not extend credit for occasional classes missed due to illness or other circumstances.
If your schedule changes...
You will not receive a cash refund. You
may transfer your remaining balance to another course for you or a family member in the
same term. DAC may extend credit toward a course
in the current term or the term immediately following only at the discretion of the
Registrar.
Inclement weather...
In case of inclement weather, DAC will follow the same cancellations/delay policies as those of Durham Public Schools. Please check the media or call the DAC front desk for updated information on weather cancellations or delays 560-2787.”
Durham Arts Council School tries to schedule instructors well in advance of each term. On
occasion, unforeseen circumstances require DAC to substitute instructors.

Your donation to the Durham Arts Council Annual Arts Fund helps support the courses
listed in this catalog, artists' residencies in area public schools, operating and project
grants awarded to members of the arts community and more. Please fill out the donation
line on your registration form.
