The Durham Arts Council (DAC), a leading arts agency in North Carolina, is currently seeking a Summer Camp Manager. The DAC Summer Arts Camp offers interdisciplinary, culturally themed arts camps to youth ages 5 to 12. Reporting to the DAC School Director, the Summer Camp Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation and daily management of the DAC Summer Arts Camp, Mini Camps and Afternoon Adventures programs. The DAC Summer Camp Manager will supervise the DAC Summer Camp Assistant Intern. This is a full-time, hourly, seasonal position, from June 1 through August 27, 2010.

Position Qualifications: Successful candidate will be an individual experienced working with children in programs responsive to diverse educational and community interests and needs. The individual will possess:

• Enthusiasm and experience working with children,
• Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills,
• Competence in teaching, counseling, and administrative work,
• Patience, creativity, enthusiasm, initiative, and flexibility.

Bachelor’s degree in child development, arts administration, arts or youth education, or related field preferred. Spanish language skills a plus. Individual must be available to work June 1 through August 27, 2010. Applicants must be 18 years or older. DAC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
